Oct 6, 2009 - This show started off very well but at episode 10 it's getting a bit ridiculous. The science advisors to this show have clearly never cracked a textbook. It takes 3min for light to travel to or from Venus for one but hey lets make a phonecall to Earth. The sheer complexity of a manned single mission to multiple planets in the solar system is complicated enough without all the trite characters and their mediocre drama. This show will get cancelled before season 2 on the basis of poor writing.

Oct 7, 2009 - Your prophecy appears to be coming true. Although I hear they will air the final shows at a later date, there is a good chance of cancellation. The fact is today's television leaves a lot to be desire, however, this show is a science fiction program. Emphasis on FICTION. We know that FTL won't happen in our lifetime. But on TV, it's ok. I enjoyed the show and will miss it.

LadyShesu Says:

Oct 7, 2009 - I see that the BBC will be picking it up, but I don't know if it's just for the one season, or if there will be more to come. Here's hoping.

ACriminalMind Says:

Oct 7, 2009 - agreed :)

Oct 22, 2009 - This show has been cancelled. Yes you had to use your brain a tiny tiny bit, thats too much for US audiences it seems. Yes it has been cancelled.

Crazyguy0090 Says:

Oct 22, 2009 - Yeah because man has never made strides in technology before...it would be completely impossible for us to come up with a way to communicate over great distances in real time, just like it would be impossible to clone a sheep.....oh...wait...

Crazyguy0090 Says:

Oct 22, 2009 - Brilliant show, ABC obviously has a bunch of morons running it who decided not to properly market a great product and then wonder why they don't make money off of it...

ACriminalMind Says:

Oct 22, 2009 - I see your point and I would have totally been okay if they had at least attempted to give an explanation for it... like the "whatever" device... but it's painfully obvious that the writers didn't even consider the time delay.

Crazyguy0090 Says:

Oct 22, 2009 - ahh...touche. Good point.

MagMag123 Says:

Oct 24, 2009 - Well, you never know; it's 40ish years in the future. Communications technology could have transitioned past radio to laser technology.

ACriminalMind Says:

Oct 24, 2009 - Laser light travels at the speed of light.

tommy407 Says:

Oct 24, 2009 - thats like saying light travel at the speed of light. u idiot

ACriminalMind Says:

Oct 24, 2009 - I'm replying to MagMag123 you moron - he's saying that maybe communications tech could have advanced from radio to laser. Both travel at the speed of light so there's no difference. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Oct 26, 2009 - This show is one amazing adventure. Episode 13 is one of best I've ever seen on a tv show. Science is only a part of Defying Gravity. Its about stretching the imagination ,courage and convictions. It builds up to episode 12 and 13. You have to see it to understand. Wonderful actors and writing about ordinary people who are heroes. If you don't see it you are missing something you should not be missing.

CoconutHorse Says:

Oct 28, 2009 - Gah...it's getting canceled and all we can do is start a fricking petition. :(

MagMag123 Says:

Oct 29, 2009 - I don't think they were aiming to be scientifically accurate in the first place; they took liberties and shortcuts to make the show move faster. Can you imagine watching a 40 minute episode where it takes that long just to get a message from Earth to Antares? This show was as much about the characters as it was the journey, which made it interesting. Unfortunately, hardcore sci-fi fans threw a fuss and critics shot it down before it even got in the air...it's Firefly all over again.

Wardeddogz Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - Best Series in a long time the rateings only dropped because various networks didnt give it a set time, people who loved it had to literally revolve ther life around watching it which caused people to drop it ABC is a joke. But then again silly Americans can give us another boreing ASS reality TV series. I vote Petition.
