GrottoFace Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - That's because you can never prove a non-existence not to exist. What most relatively smart atheists say is that God is not likely to exist. Richard Dawkins has a "Faith-o-meter" he uses to describe various levels of faith. 1 would be that you're a 100% sure there is a God, 7 would be that you're a 100% sure there is NO God. He says himself that he would be at 6,9. The last 0,1 is because of the fact that he can't prove the non-existence of God.

bronzetoags Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - They had more than just those 2 sons. You don't think those were they're only children? And yes, they did have daughters.

bronzetoags Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - Its not that hard to figure out, you see there's this little thing called 'instinct'

bronzetoags Says:

Nov 4, 2009 - You know... Not everybody was on the tower of Babel when the people were scattered... actually only a small amount.

RaymondCorrigan Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - Well, yeah, that's my position too. Morals come from us, not any religion.

RaymondCorrigan Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - No I didn't know that. That wasn't quite what I said though. Checking over the scripture, he did change the language of the whole earth... and may have scattered the whole earth (damn pronouns!). Either way my religious education teacher extrapolated this to making nations and races with the whole earth. " because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth."

r0bban1991 Says:

Nov 5, 2009 - what question did you answer me on?

Twicebakedtaters Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - People need an inner compass? There is no physical law or evidence to suggest such a thing. So where did he come up with such nonsense?

libbern Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - Americans, this is how a TV debate should be... Nothing like the O`reilly factor and such^^

LiBlub1 Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - I´m swedish and I am an atheist but That´s irrelevant the thing i wanna say is that makes me very happy to see that two perfectly sane people talk about some thing big I mean to at least, have intellectuals touch the subject if any one, instead of tabloids and people that haven´t even read the bible I´m reading the bible now but even if I doubt it will in any way change the way I fell and think I think it will illuminate things to me that I didn´t understand before.

LiBlub1 Says:

Nov 7, 2009 - Just the fact that they don´t need 2 smear each other 2 prove a point.

tomleeza Says:

Nov 8, 2009 - Religions are bullshit. They build walls of intolerance, make people hate each other and kill each other. There is no god and evil, except one: this god and evil is a human being and his consciousness.

SkyFoxCode Says:

Nov 14, 2009 - @libbern lol o'reily is a fundamentalist himself. That's not how usual debates are held. And It's the american way to get worked up and political. Sad but true. Perhaps we need to change. Maybe we won't, maybe we will.

libbern Says:

Nov 14, 2009 - I got the impression that it is the normal way to hold a debate in the US... But I hope you are right:)

Crossaix Says:

Nov 16, 2009 - To Twicebakedtaters What are you getting at? If people don't have an inner compass, where would we be? A person with absolutely no sort of inner moral compass would only act on what he or she want to reach and achieve, don't you think? We need an inner compass to guide us so that we ourselves know what is right or wrong depending on our society. Obviously there's no universal right or wrong, but you get my point.

Twicebakedtaters Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - "A person with absolutely no sort of inner moral compass would only act on what he or she want to reach and achieve, don't you think?" That is what we do. It is the imposed notions of moraity enforced by others that prevent this. You were not born of any particular moral disposition. You were blank and became indoctrinated by outside influence. The imaginings of your predecessors.

Crossaix Says:

Nov 17, 2009 - Yes of course, we were not born with a moral disposition. But if we only should care about what we were born with, then laws are useless. So is all the knowledge you gain through life. We cannot just care about what we were born with, because the experience we gain through life is at least as important. Such as the knowledge we gain and the morals and so on and so forth. Consider a world where no one had an inner compass, we would be back to the stage where the strong live and the weak die.

mischalaposta Says:

Nov 18, 2009 - "Herdsmen, I say, but they call themselves the good and just. Herdsmen, I say, but they call themselves the believers in the orthodox belief." "Behold the believers of all beliefs! Whom do they hate most? Him who breaketh up their tables of values, the breaker, the law-breaker--he, however, is the creator." -- Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra

ShadowReubenKee Says:

Nov 19, 2009 - Stackars Siewert, han kommer att bli mosad. (Eng: Poor Siewert, he'll get squashed.)

MrBlackwit Says:

Nov 20, 2009 - When I first heard the Kantian philosophy, "faith is immoral because it relies on external determination, whereas reason relies on self-determination," my spiritual life began.

Adamalgorithm Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - this is false. Science, that is evolution, shows that we are not born blank, but have an inbred nature. I do not lust after women , becasue I was taught so, but becasue my brain is built in this way. It is an instinct and the same goes for much of morality.

Twicebakedtaters Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - "I do not lust after women , becasue I was taught so" Right, Society had nothing to do with that. Didn't shape you in the slightest. "It is an instinct and the same goes for much of morality." Morality is completely subjective. As ambiguous as a god. People are born with the instinct to kill, steal and rape and "good/moral depends on who you ask. Morality is delusional moronity. " I like it therefore it is moral"

chon4186 Says:

Nov 22, 2009 - ROFL 1:41 "Hmm... Does size matter?" Look at the guy in the grey suit struggle to not crack up.

Adamalgorithm Says:

Nov 23, 2009 - morality is not completely subjective.

H4mburgarE Says:

Nov 26, 2009 - Siwert Öholm är en fundamentalistisk gubbe utan världsförankring.
