Nov 15, 2009 - Nuclear Energy isn't renewable, at least not nuclear fission reactors as there is a limited supply of fissionable uranium on earth. That and it takes a great deal fuel to mine uranium and transport it to the reactor, then after two years when the fuel rods are used up, it needs to be disposed of unless the country using it is using breeder reactors in which it can be recycled.

Nov 16, 2009 - while the supply of uranium is large, less then 1% is U-235 which is the kind that is fissionable. Also our term for renewable energy simply means that it's source can be replenished within a human lifetime, or won't run out for eons, like solar and wind. Disposing of nuclear wastes is very important seeing how if it leaks into the enviroment it can cause serious damage to wildlife and people. Why do you think it's transported in containers that can withstand being hit by a train?
