Oct 29, 2009 - I'm gonna go with not a real accurate myth bust for several reasons. 1. The jet would be moving forward thus the pressure from the engines would be significantly diminished as the aircraft moved forward. Secondly the car was moving pretty slowly. I do think that if the car was speeding along at say 45MPH as the jet was lifting off it would be buffetted and shaken by the wind but I don't think it would be knocked over. I'll volunteer to drive the taxi!

Nov 2, 2009 - LOL Busters head came off!! XD great!

scythelord Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - The force of the winds would not be significantly diminished. As the plane starts off from standstill the engines would be at full power. it doesn't rocket off immediately and would lose at most 20-30 mph of wind speed as it pulled away. That being taken away from several hundred miles per hour winds is negligible. There would be only a small window to have the car that close, but it can and has happened. It's all true.

scythelord Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - Also you know, at speed a car is significantly MORE vulnerable to crosswinds than when slow or stationary.

frigginguest Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - I agree with you in that this has happended before. I have seen it happen when I worked for UPS and a parcel truck was blown over. I'm simply stating that I don't feel this particular test is a very good example of a real world situation where a car with less surface area for the wind to push against and traveling faster than a tractor can pull it would have the same effect is all. Keep in mind that under normal conditions the jet would be moving as well taxiing down the runway for takeoff...

WunderDoob Says:

Nov 2, 2009 - this is a hilarious test. It reminds me of that story about a 747 flying into the pentagon, coming 20 feet over the freeway and miraculously knocking all the telephone poles in the OPPOSITE direction, and not knocking over or even MOVING a single vehicle on the freeway. Oh, thats because it was a CRUISE MISSILE, not a 747

Darkmind1970 Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - Ummm.... it was a 757-223. Not a 747. And the people in the cars saw it - and described it as a plane. Not a cruise missile.

WunderDoob Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - like I said, the cars that were right behind it and miraculously unscathed. Total bullshit. I also heard eyewitness reports of a guy "surfing" down 60 stories on a desk when one of the towers came down and he survived. It's called bullshit, learn to spot it.
