Secondly, Norway is going a re-fit and they are installing multi nuke-powerplants for Norway's future, and when we talk Scandinavia, we talk the best, the safest. Norwegians have the longest life spans in the world both for man and woman. There is a storng coal and oil lobby in the US that intends to scare the public with their slander.

Nov 5, 2008 - The scare tactic works really well in the USA. This lobby will simply state things like "nuclear explosions' and "Chernobil". I just hope that the public does its share and gets educated. In the plant, the technicians keep a controlled nuclear reaction in the reactor, with advanced safety segments, like a complete stabilizer modem that ends the reaction in case of emergency. THat nuke reaction heats up water in to steam, which then turns the generator.

Nov 6, 2008 - good comments halomolin, however there are other sources which are just as efficient as nuclear minus the harmful byproduct. More energy should be invested in developing those, but a you pointed out the coal and oil lobby will fight tooth and nail to maintain the dependance.

We have yet to find a way to safely and cleanly dispose of it. And until then, I don't think it should be considered an option. Also, I am not convinced mining for plutonium is very safe for the people who live around there...
