Nov 11, 2009 - Yeah great allies that saved the inbred limes from having to learn the Horst Wessel song after they lost their empire do to corruption and cowardice. Now I hear the wogs are having a great time raping limey tarts.

KeithBrown51 Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - You are flat wrong. In WW1 It was the US Marines that stopped the final hun offensive and launched our own offensive, after the french deserted by battalions and the brits were bled dry...trying to hold on to their beloved tranches. The french and brits were utterly spent until the USA came along. And in WW2 it was the USA lend lease that gave the russians materials to keep attacking in the East and the US bomber attacking in the daylight that bled the nazis dry. W/o the USA G wouldv won.

MartinIDavies Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - Keith WW1 read account of Battle of Amiens Aug 1918.. True France unable to initiate offensive actions. Britain was capable engaged along 120 miles of front. At Amiens B for the 1st time brought mobility back to the battlefield using surprise, Infantry, Artillery, Tanks and Air in a co ordinate manner so successful it shattered Germany will and took away their ability to initiate offensive actions. Pershing was reluctant to allow Americans to participate but was prevailed upon in tiny numbers

MartinIDavies Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - WW2 true without Lend Lease allies would not have prevailed. However money by itself does not win wars. Consider It was both A and B navies that transported weapons to Russia at a cost 50,000 merchant marine lives. It was the allied bombing by RAF and USAF German factories that resulted in fewer G weapons being available for us to face and the Russina. If B had lost USA would have been unable to function in N Atlantic or bomb Germany or participate in D Day. W/o B USA would have lost WW2

MartinIDavies Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - Keith I must say your demeanour seems to have taken a turn for the worse.. I thought you had something intelligent to offer the site. but this last rant implies otherwise..

MartinIDavies Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - Keith you are correct in one regard and that is america does prefer to enter into wars late. much easier to take on the enemy when most of the heavy lifting has been accomplished for you...

MartinIDavies Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - WW1 the American Expeditionary Force took no independent initiatives during WW1. They began by providing replacements of French troops. By 1918 France had lost the ability to initiated offensive battles B was by then the only power capable so AEF increasingly became involved with BEF. They were engaged under B command in several battles Hamel, Amiens etc but in very small numbers. That said the Americans did fight with valour despite lacking fighting experience

thebigJM92 Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - Not only that MartinlDavies, without Britain Germany would have been able to attack the USSR much earlier in the year (giving extra time to reach Moscow, and they got CLOSE!). Also Germany would have had hundreds of thousands more troops, hundreds more tanks and thousands more aircraft. Italy would have secured the Mediterranean and then the oil from the Middle-East. Japan could have attacked Russia from the East (as it almost did) instead of the BE. The USSR couldnt have coped.

MartinIDavies Says:

Nov 11, 2009 - WW2 what if a B defeat would have meant her armed forces, territories and resources changing sides. Consider it took the combined efforts of USA and B to keep N Atlantic secure enough to transport men and war materials to UK. The Dominions would have changed sides meaning US efforts in Pacific more difficult with OZ and a belligerent Canada and I would imagine an awoken Mexico with dreams of getting CA and TX back Oh yes the world would have looked a much nastier place of uncle Sam.

Nov 13, 2009 - Keith, reading all these comments, which are completely irrelevant to the peice of film that we are al [the rest of us] trying to enjoy, it seems to me that you are one ofthe growing number on uTube of "Brit haters"........ I dont understand this? WTF ? we all know the contributions the both the British and US Armies made, both in WW1 and 2. So what is it? Is it some form of jealousy or feelings of inferiority, that the USA did,nt take part in the Napoleonic or Crimean Wars? .. give it a rest!

thebigJM92 Says:

Nov 13, 2009 - The final major German offensive was the Spring Offensive, made up of troops from the Eastern Front who had been moved West since the capitulation of newly communist Russia. The US had been in the war only a few months and had only a tiny number of troops in France (though the number was steadily growing). The Germans put all the best and most experienced troops into Kommando squads who punched through and let the rest mop up. The offensive was stopped by B+F and the Kommandos decimated.

thebigJM92 Says:

Nov 13, 2009 - This had been a last gamble by Germany to win the war before the US could arrive in force, they put everything in. With the decimation of the Kommando units Germany lost almost all its best and most experienced troops in one offensive leaving starving (due to British blockade) and demoralised (due to general shittyness of it all) troops. From then on the Germans could only hope to defend (thus huge building program) and try and gain advantageous terms in a peace deal through heavy allied loss.
