Nov 6, 2009 - To the two people discussing this in posts here, first let me start by saying I am not a religious person by any means. I do not KNOW that there is God or if there is not. That is why it is called FAITH... these people have FAITH that what they believe is true. Of course they don't know with scientific certainty. This man that Penn is talking about is a perfect example of how people should spread their faith. Don't be rude or judgmental. it casts a bad light on your message!
petrakid Says:
Nov 6, 2009 - Well, considering probability, it is more likely that there is a 'god' than not. Even science will not deny that (it just hopes that it's lesser probability is the truth and not the lie).
petrakid Says:
Nov 6, 2009 - To believe that some guy could die to save the whole world from sin - if that were reasonable within our ability to reason - everyone would believe it. Now just because many reject it does not mean majority rule. If it were in fact the truth, as unreasonable as it is, and the whole world rejected it, it would not cease from being the truth. We do not define truth, we can do no more than believe it or deny it. Science does not define truth - it can only observe and make speculation.

Nov 9, 2009 - I am a believer and there is a living God. There have been many wise men in history. Many wise men chose to still stand in front of the truck. There is a simple reason for some I believe. They did not want to acknowledge they were accountable for their sins. They did not want to give up the sins which are still precious to them. There is not a sin in this world that is worth losing a relationship with our creator.

Nov 9, 2009 - John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Nov 9, 2009 - Practicaly the foundation of my beliefs there. Well done good sir.
tetetakneea Says:
Nov 10, 2009 - You would make a GREAT Christian! Did you read that book? Psalms = Old Testiment by the way... I just want to know why people who have never read it can chalk it up to being fiction... Maybe you can help me with it...
Tenorsarefun Says:
Nov 10, 2009 - you "KNOW" there is no God. You know it's awkward how all these atheists point out that Christians apparently can't prove that God does exist, yet at the same time, they in turn can't prove that he doesn't.
MindAndMarzipan Says:
Nov 11, 2009 - We have read it. Have you read it all the way through?
TheWhiteRabbit1990 Says:
Nov 11, 2009 - A skeptic asks for proof before he accepts things. whether its god or a new medicine. If someone makes a claim its there duty to prove it, not someone else's duty to disprove it. Have you ever heard of the flying spaghetti monster? Would you believe there was a flying spaghetti monster just because you cant disprove it? or would you ask for evidence first?
tetetakneea Says:
Nov 11, 2009 - Sure have! Study it daily...
Spectrohost Says:
Nov 11, 2009 - Why don't you all just watch flatland and maybe then you will realize a little more about why we cannot understand or fully comprehend God. It also shows a little why people don't believe in God. While it wasn't created by Christians it is very thought provoking.
uglyengineer Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - I get supreme amusement from theists who claim to have a lock on why people don't believe in God.
Spectrohost Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - If you would notice I said a little of why and not completely. There are many reasons why people don't believe and I am open to listening to anyone's reason. I was merely stating that the movie Flatland does show one of the reasons but is not exclusive in the plethora of reasons why someone does not believe in God.
uglyengineer Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - I re-read your post and it doesn't induce me to change my statement. You statement sounds conclusive, not open-ended.
Spectrohost Says:
Nov 12, 2009 - I am sorry for the misconception of the conclusiveness. It was not meant to be read that way. Once again the problem with text based conversation. It was not meant to be a conclusive statement.
MindAndMarzipan Says:
Nov 14, 2009 - To read a book and to "study" select parts are two different things. If you want to study it, at least give it one read, beginning to end, without bias. How could you know what moby dick is about, unless you read it from the beginning to the end? Select passages could make you believe it is about Ishmaels love of a wonderful whale. Think about it.
MindAndMarzipan Says:
Nov 14, 2009 - Isaiah 13:16 Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be plundered, and their wives ravished.

Nov 18, 2009 - Romans 1:18-21 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
apruitt2008 Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened
JessKayTH Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - you are horribly confused.
ireneabbott Says:
Nov 22, 2009 - I hope you have a chance to read the Psalms in the book that the man gave you. I hope God touches your heart in a way that you could be sure like I am. It would be cool to have you dancing around with us in heaven. It's real, and God is obviously after you if He sent someone to reach you. I hope to see you in heaven, brother!
MyFartsRock Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - Bad people need religion. Good people don't. Deperate people need desperate things. A religious persons can commit crime just as a non-believer. Religion and a belief proves nothing. God kills too, so what does that say? Penn is slowly going off his rocker.

Spectrohost Says:
Nov 5, 2009 - Ok... first both of you should just exchange aim accounts if you are just going to pepper Penn's wall about this stuff. While it can be intriguing to read or utterly boring it should be said that Penn was just saying how he was impressed with this guy and that the guy was a really good man. Secondly, since we are on the subject... the two of you should look up the laws of thermodynamics and then try to explain the universe and where it came from. Had to come from somewhere.
