Nov 9, 2008 - You have to press L1 or whatever to toggle recording. When there is nothing on the screen except the action then you know you're recording. You can't see any of the video controls when you're recording. I had this problem too.

Apr 6, 2009 - just hold it down, when theres nothing on the sreen that means ur recording jus press it again to stop or pause
