Nov 5, 2009 - The 1 year anniversary of his election, coincided with the 30 year anniversary of the Iranian take over, of The U.S. Embassy in Tehran. Did you see how they celebrated both in Iran? They stood outside the former embassy and chanted, "Death To America" !!! Obama's whirlwind, world wide, ass kissing tour really won everyone over. If you bury your head in the sand, not so nice people have a way of screwing you. Maybe he should chant with them next year, to prove his sincerity.
ccodling Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - I can't believe this is the same guy that did 'tv drug of the nation'!!!! And this wasn't quite what I envisaged when I heard 'music and politics' for the first time. Thought he was more clued up than this! I wonder how he feels about this now, a year later?
ccodling Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - I totally agree. However I think you've got your ratios slightly wrong! 1 good conspiracy movie = approx. 2 hours = minimum 4 fat spliffs.
ccodling Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - Exactly! How one goes from the highly conscious and politicised lyrics of The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy to this hero worshiping, brainless guff is a mystery to me unless he sold out for some kind of financial reward. I guess a lot of good people were duped by the last election and many still are being fooled by propaganda but surely Franti knows better
Wonderplant Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - I don't think this is naive. I think Obama really is a sincere man. And he's a symbol of change- he's a symbol of the fact that our nation has changed from a time when race and gender would have created a glass ceiling- to a time when a black man ran neck and neck with a woman for a major party nomination- then won the presidency. It shows that anyone who tries hard enough can achieve.
Wonderplant Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - Also, I'd add- I read Obama's book 'Dreams of my Father,' which was published shortly after his first major speech at the DNC. It was an autobiography, but also an intelligent analysis of the state and history of this country. What it revealed was a thoughtful man who seemed to really care about doing the right thing- and who had questioned and struggled with himself. Someone who'd worked hard to get where he was, but wasn't self aggrandizing. A good man. Someone who reflected my generation.
Wonderplant Says:
Nov 15, 2009 - And lastly, he doesn't have a magic wand, folks. There was no way he was going to be able to snap his fingers and fix everything in a month. It's not even been a year yet- but I do see him trying. Of course, he's run up against stumbling blocks that he clearly hadn't expected- but I believe that, given time, he will surmount them.
SkeyeZ Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Thank you for putting this so succinctly.
SkeyeZ Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - It's not that he hasn't cleaned it up, it's that it's obvious he has no real intention to do so.
SkeyeZ Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - I'm wondering the same thing...maybe we should ask him?
SkeyeZ Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - That is one way to look at it, a perspective, but here is another: That anyone, even a 'black man' or a 'white woman' can be corrupt, can be acting from fear and insecurity and the desire for power. If we deny seeing the 'negative' it will rule by deceit.
SkeyeZ Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Yes, 'who seemed to really care', but this is what PR is for and just because he may write his own PR doesn't mean it's any better. Not self aggrandizing, then why the book? He was 'sold' to the public and many have 'bought' him, but many more are questioning, especially the young that supported him.
SkeyeZ Says:
Nov 17, 2009 - Yes, I went along with that reasoning as well with Clinton, until I realized I had voted for the other side of the 'elitist coin'. Check out the books: 'How the Rich Are Destroying the Earth' and 'rule by secrecy' The first book speaks to how ecology and economics have been typically separated, but must unite to address matters appropriately. And the second addresses an alternative, possibly more inclusive, perspective on the history of 'ruling classes'.
ccodling Says:
Nov 18, 2009 - I think this is his official yt channel so he should read the messages at some point I guess. I might send him a personal message anyway =)
SkeyeZ Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - Yes, I was looking at his Spearhead page as well...I'll send a message too. Peace...

Oct 19, 2009 - I dont think he's ignorant, Franti knows better which makes this whole thing very suspect. This guy has not stood up against the war ever since Obama won ... my theory is that he was just trying to make money off of us, because anti-war music was selling under Bush, now since the war is even more censored than ever, Franti thinks it wont sell anymore. That makes him a sellout. The fact that it has been so long, since makes him Pathetic.
