Centuries old religious practices, especially Islam, Judiasm or Christianity, have little or no basis in biological law or history. To compare "you have to breath oxygen to live" and "thou shalt wear a burka outside your home if you're female" or "thou shalt not covet thy neighbors ass or wife" is fairly ridiculous.

The US is a republic...other societies are constitutional oligarchies, etc. Issues are experienced when the "all knowing and all superiod, high IQ people" think they really do know best and they make laws and create morals that destroy society and often, they themselves don't even practice. I agree, the economy should serve society, not vice versa.
