Nov 18, 2009 - Their voices don't mesh very well, but what a great song! I also like that they are so focused on their collaboration together. A godd performance, not a great one, but wouldn't you have given your right arm to have been in the audience?

Nov 19, 2009 - What does Willie say at the very beginning? "Put a leslie on it???? What's a leslie?
tripleheshy Says:
Nov 19, 2009 - A Leslie is a lever that gives a range of vibrato to the sound of a Hammond organ. You hear it best in Rock-n-Roll songs " Oy Ye Como Va" and "Evil Woman" by Santana. Greg Rollie played those solos beautifully.

Nov 19, 2009 - Was curious about this too. Anyone know what this means music wise?
JeremyPCresswell Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - OK. it was written by Eddie Setser and Roy Seals (Father of Jim Seals of Seals and Croft). There is no definitive historical basis fof the the narrative. It could be placed anywhen from the Mex-US war to the 2nd Mex civil war. Basically it is a mytho-historic narrative which can fit anywhere in the narrative of US frontier history in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Nov 20, 2009 - Ray Charles and Willie Nelson, are both AWESOME!
medicinecrow65 Says:
Nov 20, 2009 - The "Leslie" was a speaker cabinet that had a rotating speaker in it and it was most commonly used with the Hammond organ though it was also used by guitarists sometimes. The electronic phase shifter pretty much replaced the Leslie as it was housed in a small "stomp box" as opposed to the typical Leslie cabinet that was about the size of a recliner.
