Jun 19, 2009 - Incidentally it's not just WMG. I'm pretty sure Viacom continues to do it because you can't find the same episodes they were taking down during their initial sweep today, either. The BBC has claimed every single QI show. I've seen claims by NBC. "Third party" non-specifications in some instances. All these companies are greedy whores and now that youtube has gained publicity they have *ALL* descended upon it. Thus: the death of the site.

Jul 3, 2009 - The basic story is that WMG and Google has a biz agreement for years, google/youtube paid royalties to WMG to host videos with WMG music. When the contract came up, WMG had a last second demand for more money. Google told them "we'll think about it", and started tearing down videos claiming WMG filed DMCA violations. As far as I'm concerned, they're both to blame.

Jul 25, 2009 - If WMG wants thier music music off youtube then heres a simple solution, have them check themselves! Its very simple how they should do this. First take all these videos they scan with thier music in them. Then have a team check and see whether the video really does violate the fair use law. If it does then the video may be muted, if it doesn't it goes to youtube with its audio intact. It may seem like a timewaster for WMG, but good. Its thier job to protect thier music.

Oct 4, 2009 - I used a fucking Larry Carlton song as background music for one of my family videos that displayed our visit to a them park. YouTube stripped the audio. First of all....it's one of Larry Carlton's songs that probably never had any airtime on those "Smooth Jazz" stations in the 80's. Second, Larry would probably be flattered. Third, Larry probably had nothing to do with it because it was the greedy bastards at the record company or worse, just a plain scam. BS!! Go Tyger.
