Nov 22, 2009 - Thats not a very good analogy. Where is the proof you love ice cream sundaes? or Chocolate? These are concepts that exist as concepts only. There is no amount of eating chocolate that equates to loving it. It is an abstract concept completely. God on the other hand is not an abstract concept as the bible portrays the situation. The bible defines god not as an abstract thing like love but as an interefering entity. If god is an abstract concept then of what point is she?

Genesis shows us that god didn't understand the diff. between the sun the Moon!! He referred to the sky as a dome! Jesus knew nothing of the causes of disease in humans. He would trach that demon possession causes both physiological psychological disease, and that casting demons out would cure. Modern medicine knows better, doesn't it?

Nov 22, 2009 - I agree. I work in the medical imaging field and my company has extensive experience with fMRI, CT, PET/CT, SPECT/CT,etc. fMRI has overtaken PET CT Fusion for brain imaging. The concept of love is still arbitrary though. An fMRI can only tell if the regions associated with pleasure are being activated. What that means is open to interpretation.

Nov 22, 2009 - actually the LTP areas associated with an interest in commitment are easily discernible. Immediate pleasure is one thing(and as you say it is also detectable) but the activation in some parts of the brain(i don't recall the region) are only present in those who are deeply in love.
