Aug 3, 2009 - This was in London in the 1960's and far from exploiting people Dusty Springfields show gave us the great music that was around regardless of colour. The UK has never had the same problems !
Alexcantsee Says:
Aug 4, 2009 - Dusty loved the motown sound. She wanted everyone to get a taste of it in the UK.

Aug 15, 2009 - When this music came out, I was a teenager and THE ONLY SOUND I WANT TO HEAR WAS DETROIT'S MOTOWN-SOUND !!! I knew this BBC-Special "Ready Steady Go! - The Sounds Of MOTOWN" from 1965. Later it was released on VHS-Video by Dave Clark Int. Productions and i buyed the tape. Some years later I copied the VHS to DVD and some times I watch the fantastic artists and sounds. By the way, this is for you 'Freederm': Stevie's song called "I Call It Pretty Music - But The Old People Call It The Blues"

Aug 17, 2009 - Black people were undoubtedly less represented on TV back then but I think you're overstating the situation. For example, The Blossoms were the resident back-up singers on Shindig. They also were given featured solo spots. There's even a vid on here of Darlene Love duetting with the Righteous Brothers on "Night Time Is The Right Time"

Sep 25, 2009 - It would be a good idea for Americans who didn't know what it was like in Britain not to comment. One reason for not having many black dancers is that there weren't many blacks in the country. They couldn't suddenly train some for this programme. Although if you look at the Otis Redding special 2 of the 3 dancers were black. This programme established Motown after the tour hadn't done well. There is a doucumentary where all the stars comment on how well they were treated compared to the USA.

Oct 9, 2009 - I never really noticed that Eddie was a pretty boy. I've been hearing women say how fine he was for years. I was so enamored by his singing, I never noticed. And I now know why I like Martha and the Vandellas. It's the energy. You feel it even in slow songs.
MarvelettesDude Says:
Oct 15, 2009 - no the Marvelettes where not present - The Tempations, The Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, Smokey and the Miracles, Stevie Wonder were the only Motown stars present

Nov 11, 2009 - much as i love motown and these artist dustys voice come with so much power..love her...no one compares
jsbach15 Says:
Nov 14, 2009 - She had a terrible miscarriage at one point, and didn't participate with the group. Back then, changes were made as groups formed. Claudette, being the only female in a male group, didn't lend to a strong presence (yeah, it wasn't right). However, she had twins later on.
