Sep 19, 2008 - Business-targeted readers also come with business-sized price tags. Though Plastic Logic won't yet reveal the price for its device, iRex says its basic reader will start at $650. (By contrast, Kindle sells for $360.) Adding a writable screen to the iRex reader will cost another $100, and equipping it with wi-fi, Bluetooth and a 3G cell connection for downloading documents will raise the price to $850.

Oct 13, 2008 - The most silly thing they could do at this point is to sell it for too much. If it costs 200$ or 300$ it will be a huge hit. Everybody will use it, and they will make tons of money and dominate the market. Like the Ipod. They are obviously better than everybody else in the market. But if they sell it for too much will be like the mac pre osx. Nice but too costly. And then others will copy the idea and they will have lost their opportunity.

airerik Says:
Jan 2, 2009 - This is pretty cool, but I think it's going to have a huge price tag. Can they even mass produce these? This device crashes at about 1:16. When he shows the annotations, he shows it on some PC emulator and not the device itself.
Chumandoo3 Says:
Jan 12, 2009 - Guy was pretty boring and this technology seems more cosmetic than practical.
nickorization Says:
Feb 10, 2009 - Well, you can see by the example that they are not going for people who want to read a book but for business people... If they really want to compete with Kindle, they could make one a bit smaller and faster with turning pages, that would be amazing (the technology seems to be really paper-like, which is probably the best I've ever seen)
mlutfi Says:
Feb 18, 2009 - I will definitely buy this one if the price tag is about the same as Kindle2. I don't like the Kindle because the screen is too small, to many keys on the front, ugly reading pdf, not able to read word/excel/ppoint files.
Heinomaniac Says:
Feb 21, 2009 - it will cost over 1000USD i fear
roadblockwaite Says:
Mar 1, 2009 - noway, they wouldnt survive. it might be released at 700USD or somethign ridiculous, but it will drop. $1000 in actual books is a lot of books...no one would pay that
MrDefaulto Says:
Apr 8, 2009 - Two things about this, the Sony 700 has touch screen capabilities, but it dramatically lowered the contrast. I wonder how the contrast is on this one. Also, where is COLOR? Color e-ink has been around for years, but we only see glimpses of it at japanese trade shows, never for sale.
MrDefaulto Says:
Apr 8, 2009 - It definitely crashes, but the emulator part was simply showing examples on the big projection screen, it doesn't look like it had anything to do with the device crashing. I noticed thought that there were at least two very visible lines running through the longer side of the device. At 0:30 when it switches from EASY to the logo you can really see it.
dancingmaxxie Says:
May 9, 2009 - I would buy this in an instant, for pretty much any price, if it came with the ability to actually write documents so I can take notes on it during lectures... Unfortunately both with this and the Kindle DX that doesn't seem to be an ability even though they both have keyboards. I don't quite understand why that isn't a priority.
propercupofcoffee Says:
May 28, 2009 - @dancingmaxxie I think you can do that with the iRex iLiad ereader.
ciccillopazz Says:
Sep 18, 2009 - I do not understand whether it is possible to write notes on the text somehow...
