Nov 18, 2009 - ...making it rather easily movable. and notice how the couch never hugs against the wall or one of the chairs? the couch is most likely the only heavy, solid object in the "room" at the time, and would have broken the already flimsy walls. now, not to say there are absolutely no computer effects being used, there are in fact, though for trivial reasons. i remember one source in a forum years ago stating that they did use some special effects (aside from the roaches and crows flying by)....

Nov 18, 2009 - either way, it is pretty interesting...no matter what the method was utilized to create such an illusion. A great vid, especially for that time!

Nov 21, 2009 - In a short making-of documentary, director Jonathan Glazer describes how the four walls move on a stationary grey floor with no detail, to give the illusion that the floor is moving. However, he does not state where the fourth wall is. In several shots, chairs or couches are fixed to the walls so that they appear to be standing still, when in fact they are moving.
trueangel95 Says:
Nov 21, 2009 - In other shots chairs remain stationary on the floor, but the illusion is such that they appear to be moving. The moving walls were not completely rigid and can be seen in some shots to wiggle slightly.

Nov 23, 2009 - People, listen up.....I've watched a documentary on this....the floor is stationary....the walls are a giant upside down box on wheels, and like 20 people push this box around making it look like the floor was moving, when in fact its the walls that are moving. Some of the furniture is bolted to the walls so it moves in unison with the set. Other pieces of furniture are not bolted to anything so they stay in one place on the floor while the giant box is moved around it. Simple....

Nov 18, 2009 - and considering JayKay and any unlatched chair slides along the same direction, it'd be a rather sad usage of such computerized effect to not have the chair slide in one direction, while JayKay in another. at 1:19, you'll notice the right chair shifting a bit as they turned the walls to create the illusion that the couch is spinning in the room. also notice how jaykay never sits on any one of the chairs, couch excluded, indicating the likelihood of it being VERY light and breakable.
