Nov 22, 2009 - Man what a beat!
EBanonymous Says:
Nov 23, 2009 - "I want to be a man" a monkey eating a banana dancing to music - seems a whole lot like a minstrel show. Then: "I want to be like you" minstrel's point was to say blacks weren't people why? "So I can go to town" blacks couldn't w/o a pass True - Kipling wrote this about India, but those were the "other" too. Kipling also wrote "The White Man's Burden", so he made excuses for colonialism Do you blokes know the significance of this? Says that sub-humans need to be controlled. Sick!

Nov 24, 2009 - King Louis wasn't in the book, he was just put in so they could have a song about an ape who wants to be a human, there isn't any racial commentary here

Nov 25, 2009 - "True - Kipling wrote this about India, but those were the "other" too." Wait... what? What are you trying to say here? And as I said about the maker of the "Racism in Disney" video, if you see a swingdance scene with apes in it and interpret it as being about black people, I think that suggests more about you than about the makers of the movie.
EBanonymous Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - neo@ "the other" presents other people as inferior; see book "The Unpeople" - well supported by scholars. The scene is a minstrel scene; that's a direct reference to blacks, especially slaves. Dancing, singing, exagerated lips (cocunts), playing objects (leaves) like instruments, the differnt accents - VERBATIM. They go futher call themselves not real people when they represent blacks . google Ferris University's webpage on Blackface Rather it suggests ur racist or ignorant.
EBanonymous Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - neo- 2nd If you really need an explaination on "I want to be a man" a monkey eating a banana dancing to music in typical minstrel fashion then says : "I want to be like you" This is one of the more blatant examples of racism. I don't even see anything to discuss. All of sudden this ins't minstrel THEN minstrel isn't about blacks? They always meet natives in jungle; 'Trader Mickey' and 'The Boy Thursday' It isn't racist? You'd have to be wilfully blind not to see that.
neoYTPism Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - EBanonymous, I have neither the time nor the inclination to look into the details of what you mentioned (at least not for a while) and frankly I'm surprised that you looked into it as much as you did. I guess I'm just so used to politically-correct knee-jerk accusations of racism that I interpreted your earlier comment as being more along the lines of "monkeys singing about wanting to be human this song must be about blacks" than about a researched line of inquiry into legitimate similarities...
EBanonymous Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - Neo @ U have a point usually most ridiclous examples of "PC" the media highlight. Ex: a 5 yr old boy kissing a girl called sexual harrasment as an example of PC gone too far. Yet, most poeple thinks that's just a 5 yr old (I agree). So Y do this? Because the population are less tolerant to racism/sexism before. PC is really about respect for others. Not everyone like that - including the few rich blokes that own 90% of wealth. don't take my word for it. If u want, u can check urself.

Nov 25, 2009 - word has grabed my royal ear-have a banana...ahaha get maaaaad baby :)

It's hard to tell just what you're trying to say.
EBanonymous Says:
Nov 25, 2009 - That there is a real effort by some to discredit those who speak against racism by grouping absurd claims w/ people who are against racism. Its like saying 'look, thes PC people r carzy; they're oversensitive' the example of the 5 yr old tries to confirm that. Its propaganda as it doesn't define PC. But it shows that some really do hate the fact they can't do things as openly racist as before. 500 word limit - tough to write
