Nov 6, 2009 - Does anyone know the time of the USS Makassar Strait landing? My did served on that ship...not sure if he'll remember. A 90 year-old WWII veteran! Thanks, paul
ursavostock Says:
Nov 6, 2009 - @Jose04811 Piston engines "generally" dont blow up when theyre bent. They just seize stop running. many of the old planes had self sealing fuel tanks. But when something as big as a jet turbine, spinning at 10,000 to 15,000 rpm, gets bent it doesnt wanna stop. So it breaks apart...like a grenade...but bigger...and theres a lot of aviation fuel. Fun for the whole family...
