Oct 5, 2009 - one hand on the collar (so that you are halfway away from applying a choke) and other hand on elbow join gripping the gi... if you are going to instruct mr, blackbelt, please stop using whitebelts to do it, no offense to them but they just don't know as well as a higher belt rank, and it is not ethical.....

Oct 7, 2009 - it was his father... who thought them

TheAnarchist33 Says:

Oct 8, 2009 - For sparring my instructor has us white belts mix with colored belts so we really get the technique right. I don't see the ethical issue here, they're merely demonstrating a basic maneuver.

Oct 8, 2009 - If you ever pick a fight with a guy who's proficient at ju-jitsu, you will quickly learn who the boss is! This martial art is for breaking bones and dislocating joints!

Oct 11, 2009 - When I first started BJJ,I fell for this sweep when a Purple belt was toying with me like a cat toys around with a lizard,I was like wtf! just happend, and he pwned me. I just watch out for it now,but 8/10 times I fall for it...very effective sweep

xflyingtiger Says:

Oct 12, 2009 - Technically Wrong! Most of the Gracie clan have clung to the name Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, but when others outside of the clan began using the name, particularly those who were altering the art significantly, the Gracies began to threaten law suits. Nowadays, even Rickson does not refer to his art as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, but rather Rickson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Anyone else teaching something similar better not call it Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, lest you run afowl of the copyright laws that Rorion owns.

Oct 25, 2009 - Just by watching the white belt's form he looks like a blue belt. But yeah i think this is one of the more common sweeps. Nice.

xKeepThisSecretx Says:

Oct 26, 2009 - actually it was the Gracie family that brought it into brazil, taking the japanese technique and utilizing key aspects along with their own perspective creating Gracie jiu jitsu/brazilian jiu jitsu. as far as the statement learning Gracie Jiu Jitsu and teaching what your taught, not being it? -- explain?

zed13281 Says:

Oct 26, 2009 - there is no logic to your statement

tyebo87 Says:

Oct 31, 2009 - im quite a big guy and smaller guys have used this well against me in judo newaza. with proper technique all the moves of judo and jujitsu work as they were invented to allow a smaller guy to beat a bigger opponent.

starkiller8888 Says:

Nov 3, 2009 - it would depend on how much leverage you can get, so if your arms and legs are longer then i think it would be easier...

dohboiii Says:

Nov 14, 2009 - with decent technique, you can do it almost to any1, unless they are like literally twice ur size

14mus2 Says:

Nov 24, 2009 - i cant say for sure, but at my judo competitions regardless of what colour your belt is, one fighter wears a blue belt and one wears a white belt. this is just to make it easier for refs and score keepers. Judo example: "Wazari, Blue"
