Oct 7, 2009 - It was a long process using the sign language alphabet. I started singing and signing it then I taught her the letters individually, then I taught her the sounds and then we began to put them together. I started when she was about one and a half and she started reading just over two.

I started by teaching her the ASL alphabet and then once she knew all the letters then we put the sounds to the letters and then we'd start putting the letters together to form words. It took a while and I started slowly. Id teach her 'a' then add 'b' once she knew 'a' then I'd add 'c' when she knew a and b etc.

Oct 25, 2009 - After watching these videos I too thought I'd have to learn b4 teaching my 1.5 yr old grandson. I bought a DVD (babe einstein) at walmart to teach him those words first. It took me 1 week to learn them but only 2 days for him (he watched about 6 times). I made him a playlist now at 2.5 he knows 150+ words. We've both learned together! I believe Fireese inspired him. I know she inspired me!!
