Sep 13, 2009 - you can complain about the APU tactical capability all days and the list will never end. But everyone will have to admit that looking at the APU for the 1st time will make your testosterone level rocket. Having the human expose help contrasting between human and machine, becuz if the APU were fully armor plated it would look really confusing in the fight and not nearly as eyes popping. So when you talk about movie technicality...APU wins

Oct 22, 2009 - Even with the machine's lasers, armor would have helped. Not only do the machines have to mount the APU to begin cutting, which takes time, they have to take a second or two to cut through the armor itself. By then, they should be dead already. If not, at least the operator had some extra time to kill squids. An EMP should have been installed as a last resort-I'd rather have disabled tech than a swarm of squids. Missiles should have been mounted on the Construct, and on APUs. Oh well. Good flick

Oct 31, 2009 - I suspect that it wasn't an issue of technology or expertise, but something that could be manufactured cheaply, quickly and with materials that were readily available to the humans. They probably didn't have the light alloys required to armor them and maintain their mobility.
