I don't know much about Robert Wyatt except the common place knowledge that he was the drummer I think for soft machine, a group from Canterbury in England, and the poor man fell from a window while still in early 20's and paralysed himself. But this song has such an eerie beauty to it... there's a fantastic comment further down the page by a guy called questions613... and he's nailed it 100%: very french.
