Nov 6, 2009 - The studios really began to have problems w/ Judy by 1948, most noticably during the filming of The Pirate-- which unfortunately flopped (she would however also make the 2nd highest grossing film of 1948 w/ Easter Parade). The problems just continued untill her firing. It was Betty Hutton who replaced Garland in the film version of "Annie Get Your Gun." Merman originated the role on stage, and it was said that Garland had been terrified to take on the role that gained Merman such great acclaim.

Capricaquarius89 Says:

Nov 6, 2009 - I think part of the reason for Judy's marriage to Vincent Minnelli was because he reminded herself so much of her own father, a closeted homosexual. She loved and adored her father so much, she would be w/ any man who remined her of him-- no matter the consequences. And Liza fell into the same situation-- marrying a man who did his best to love her, but couldn't-- at least not the way she needed. As for calling Garland unnatractive, that's just uncalled for. Let the lady rest in peace, please.

Nov 17, 2009 - i was watching tcm not 2 minutes ago and they were talking about her in her younger years. her and her friend were at a party with other movie stars and they were both very hungry. they went to get food but then one of judy's directors or something grabed her arm and told her she wasn't allowed to eat. i feel like crying right now. people didn't treat her right and she was so wonderful

Nov 19, 2009 - Judy Garland needs to get a lifetime pass and get back here immediately. Wow!! Maybe 4ft tall but Shaquille O`neill would not want to mess with her. The absolute best ever. Thank goodness for YOUTUBE. Brilliant!

NFitalianGuy Says:

Nov 21, 2009 - Judy leaving MGM marked the end of MGM's Musical greatness. They made very few after she left that were as Big as the Movies she was in when at that studio. It was said the "FREED UNIT" was supposed to get together back in the 60's and have garland team up with Vincente Minnelli Arthur freed and the rest to do one last musical. Too bad it never happened.
