Jun 12, 2008 - I think the original was written by Weber for orchestra and Liszt arranged it for piano. Both versions are excellent.
CrazyPianist122792 Says:
Sep 6, 2008 - Actually, you've got it reversed. The original was a cycle of four waltzes for piano, and was later orchestrated by Louis-Hector Berlioz.
mkbird100 Says:
Sep 8, 2008 - Interesting. Did Liszt do an arrangemnt at one stage? I have sheet music from 1918 (admittedly downloaded, but looks authentic) with "Concert Arrangment by Franz Liszt" on the top left, and "Carl M Von Weber" top right. Can send it to you if you like.

Aug 4, 2009 - no, my friend mkbird100, a long ago, i am a student of musical theory and i always learned that the piece an invitation to the dance was composed by the german composer carl maria von weber, and it was originally composed for piano and not for orchestra. someone, later, transcribed it for orchestra. it is all that.

tomasguitronmx Says:
Aug 5, 2009 - Considero la pieza como una especie de musica descriptiva ya que no hace falta mucho para llevar con la musica a las escenas tanto de la invitacion y el baile en si sino hasta que se regresa a la dama

Aug 10, 2009 - dated in 1819 was composed during a long illness by Carl Maria von Weber, and orchestrated by Hector Berlioz and it´s the object of a ballet coreogreaphy with the name " the spectrum of the rose", it´s really a beautiful page a nd an excellent invitation to dance
