Jul 11, 2009 - Disney's pretty well always been a merchandising whore, it's a multi BILLION dollar industry. The reason they stopped making animated movies was due to both CGI (Pixar mainly) becoming far more popular, and the cost required for making straight-out animated movies; using computer animation or real actors is tons more cost-effective. But still, it is sad. I'm glad I was a kid during Disney's 80's-90's rennaissance.
