May 26, 2008 - this might sound like a solution here on European soil, but how about forcing the car-makers to make their engines much more fuel efficient? why not advise consumers to buy eco-friendly cars, like the Prius?

notsobad Says:

May 26, 2008 - Use public transport.

peppeddu Says:

May 27, 2008 - This kind of news comes out once every few years. It is poorly made and here are the reasons: 1) If you don't warm-up the engine and circulate the oil before driving it won't last very long, especially in sub-zero weather 2) It is more energy-efficient to open the windows at low speed, but it is more energy-efficient to use the AC at higher speed 3) You should use the gear that keeps the engine in torque not the highest, you'll save on gas

aimwn Says:

May 27, 2008 - States should ban the use of cars in the center of the cities. And we should change our habbits, cars must be used only for long distances and when traveling. More efficient means of public transportation inside the cities is a solution.

BOBYTTTT Says:

May 27, 2008 - Drive gently and politely. Avoid jams, get up early in the morning, get to know your preferred route well and do not drive like taxi drivers. Bu any way Don't worry, be happy driving!

DarthTanner Says:

May 27, 2008 - You don't live in the UK do you. Public transport is more expensive than car travel even with the recent fuel increases.

dtaijo174 Says:

May 27, 2008 - Long live socialism globalization... (sarcasm)

t83rg Says:

May 29, 2008 - Car is ok in countryside, but cities are better with bicycles and public transportation. In cities cars should be only allowed for transportation of handicapped, children, old people and pregnant women. Adult men and women don't really need these moving sofas in cities.

FootinMouthDisease Says:

May 30, 2008 - Anything that helps reduce emmssions, blood pressure and hip pocket blues is good, yes? ;-)

Greg260146 Says:

Aug 30, 2008 - Probably the VERY greatest reduction in fuel consumption in Europe would be to dismantle the EU it has done so much damage to EUrope has been so incredibly profligate in use of fuel even Barrosso drives a VW Taureg for instance, huge travel requirements of a massive centralised undemocratic bureaucracy. Propaganda films like this from the EU are an obscenity when it moves its pretend parliament and all its parasites from Brusells to Strasbourg monthly uses fuel to heat its empty buildings!

ionsunteu Says:

Oct 29, 2008 - yes but what would happen if everyone suddenly turned to public transport? it would be like going to work in a can of beans

pursuit989 Says:

GUAlliance Says:

Jan 20, 2009 - You know it would have been fun if people used only smart cars in cities and towns and then more robust economy cars such as Toyota prius on motorways. I live in Cyprus, which is a relatively small island. You wouldn't believe how many people have brought Hummers over here! Its crazy

malexsky Says:

Jan 24, 2009 - never warm up die lah.. wah lao..

Jan 30, 2009 - Yep, you are right I see them in Nicosia every day xD.

05027802 Says:

Jan 30, 2009 - There are some good points here but driving with a cold engine is very bad advice. 'Always' warm the engine for a good five minutes before you take off and longer for cold mornings. This is especially important for high power performance vehicles. I even let my car run for two minutes after use to allow the turbo to cool before switching off. Major engine repairs are can cost thousands to repair even on everday cars, and driving with a cold engine is the No.1 cause of all engine wear.

jbacz Says:

Feb 8, 2009 - yes i agree, never warming up your car can cause engine damage... yeah its saves fuel but it also increases your chance to break your engine and spend more money on repairing it... i think that "nerver warm up" thing is very impractical...

Arbitrary242 Says:

Feb 9, 2009 - You think this is propaganda? Then I know you are ignorant and prejudiced against the EU.

herringfly Says:

Mar 24, 2009 - I'm writing a song about my Ural 4320 11ltr Diesel. It's got an integral generator, so no pedalling for auxiliary power. It smokes like a bastard but it sounds great when I gun it down to Glasgow, though it's a bugger to find a big enough parking space in the town. I've not posted the song yet. Got a bit of fine tuning to do first. Recently got a Ural 4320 based rocket launcher system Hail BM-21. Actually handles better than the standard model!

May 29, 2009 - NOW WE WANT TO KNOW THE EU EXPENSES!!! The accounts of the EU have NEVER been signed off by accountants because even THEY do not believe them!! How can we vote for the EU when they vote to keep their expenses secret!! PORK BELLY POLITICS. We the people count for nothing. we are simply the proletariat. MORE PLEBS PLEASE!

maineeackkilla Says:

Aug 20, 2009 - i know u wrote that along time ago but i just came across it but it depends on how new ur car is if not warming it up damages ur engine

Bozewani Says:
