Dec 16, 2008 - You're into Benny Hinn, kid? Oh man.

Dec 16, 2008 - This whole 'critical analysis' thing is getting annoying. Honestly, do you really need to address an idiot like GIIVideo?

SeenAndNotSeen Says:

Dec 16, 2008 - The jug of milk DOES answer my prayers. It is not inanimate, but actually has a very complex consciousness. No scientific studies have shown this, but that's because the jug cannot be tested. My friend says the same thing about his rabbit's foot, but he's insane. That's just silly. Also, you criticize GIIvideo for not providing specific sources besides the name of the newpaper and a quotation, whereas you give a vague reference to two TV shows and count it as evidence.

SeenAndNotSeen Says:

Dec 16, 2008 - You do not explain why praying to something inanimate like milk is any different from praying to something invisible/undetectable/untestable like God. Justification, please. I could just as easily say that a milk jug does answer prayers, but thinking God answers prayers is silly. You gave one valid refutation, however. Prayer to a milk jug or to God is not an OPTICAL illusion, since it doesn't involve vision. GIIvideo is wrong about that. Perhaps a better term would be "psychological trick."

kram35 Says:

Dec 17, 2008 - I to have been praying to the jug of milk for years. I find it very insaulting that aaronk would dare to question the validity of my faith.

Dec 17, 2008 - Yes.

SeenAndNotSeen Says:

Dec 18, 2008 - Here is the study that GIIvideo was referring to. It was funded by the Templeton Foundation, a pro-spirituality organization, not a bunch of "biased atheist scientists": nytimes . com/2006/03/31/health/31pray . html However, by rejecting these results because the study was sinful, you raise a good question: If testing God is a sin, does that therefore mean that if a scientific study proved that intercessory prayer was indeed effective, you would reject that evidence and say it's meaningless?

SeenAndNotSeen Says:

Dec 18, 2008 - The point of the original video was to show people that by the same standards that they would reject any superstitions, like rabbit's feet, lucky horseshoes, rain dances, etc., they would have to reject prayer. You say that prayer is different because God is real. However, to the Native Americans, their rain gods were as real as your God is to you. To voodoo practitioners, spirits are real. To idolaters, their statues are real gods. How is your god more believable, and how could you show this?

SeenAndNotSeen Says:

Dec 18, 2008 - Imagine you're a parent. Imagine your child says a monster is in his closet. You open it to fnd nothing. Then he says that the monster turns invisible whenever you open the closet. Do you believe him? No. The same could be said for prayer. Prayer works unless you study it closely, in which case God stops answering prayers because you're sinning. Or, he answers "No." It just seems so convenient that prayer is effective unless you try to analyze it.

Scarface066 Says:

Dec 19, 2008 - "No Evidence" "No Evidence" "No Evidence" "'God can't be tested!' is NOT a rationalization. It's the correct answer!" No evidence.

Jan 28, 2009 - Praise milk jugs. In Canada they praise milk BAGS. Oooh. Strange gods.

erebus91 Says:

Feb 18, 2009 - I fail to see how prayer is any more "real" than worshipping a milk jug. I was once a christian. I know that praying can do wonders some times, but moreso i know that it doesn't actually do anything. Hard work tends to help a lot more than praying for the next A+. Chemotherapy tends to help a lot more than praying for the cancer to go away.

erebus91 Says:

Feb 18, 2009 - Thats not true in the slightest.

Aug 15, 2009 - "This was a testing of god. This is a sin." You are embarassing yourself now.

ricknitro Says:

Aug 16, 2009 - You commented on the fact that the video is using a website as a source. According to the website where giivideo got his info from, "god cares about you" "god can perform miracles". Is this not true? Well that explains hurricane Katrina!

ricknitro Says:

Aug 16, 2009 - "a jug of milk is an inanimate object. You have no right to compare it to something as real as prayer." You are a moron. He wasn't comparing the jug of milk to prayer, he was comparing it to the imaginary entity called "god". How can you ever hope to refute videos when you cannot even grasp their contents, let alone come up with a critical rebuttal.
