Jan 12, 2009 - The one thing about this video: The lady is wrong The lady says that the DA gives an "extra look" at cop shootings like its a bad thing. I think its smart as it means he checks into things extra good not skimming over the shooting also, at 0:30 seconds she says its wrong for the DA to check out the possible efforts of the cop's lawyer to defend the cop. I disagree, I expect a good DA to take into account the chance of getting a conviction before charges are made against the cop.

Jan 13, 2009 - This is typical Oakland politics unfortunately. The bureaucracy is there for a reason..to wear everyone down. As far as the DA is concerned, there really is no doubt that a crime is committed and the fact that they have not arrested him yet is silly and showing quite a glaring double-standard. DA's should consider what the defense is...but that should have no bearing in what charges are brought to bear.

Jan 13, 2009 - as far as the woman that walked out..most of the people that sit on these boards...especially in the east bay are personal friends through church, social circles and what not. People run...get a buzz and get elected...it's like your prom king or queen...they may be popular...but you don't want them making policy. That's why the blow up when the board's competence and resolve was questioned. That's why nothing will ever change in Oakland...if you live there...move.

Jan 13, 2009 - was there security camera footage? When I lived there the majority of those cameras didn't even work...and actually there were a large number that were actually faux cameras.

Jan 14, 2009 - This is the norm in city councils and boards all over the country...if she can't stand the "heat" get out...the video is obvious...the anger is obvious...even for those of us that totally support the police.....oppps is not an defense....the officer will go home to his family and that young man will not...you never see this happening to white college students, because there is a mentality about class, dress, race...it is not particularly racist, but obviously biased.only training will resolve it

Jan 14, 2009 - I believe that the DA has to not only take into account what crime a person has done, but also what is the chance of getting a jury to convict a person on that crime. A smart DA will understand the arguements of the defence, and their ability to sway a jury.

Jan 14, 2009 - I watch this video and I have to say, I disagree with about everything this lady says... I also think this whole meeting is pointless. I dont understand the reason for this type of meeting. And the lady talks and talks but never really makes any points? A few times while she was speaking I did not even understand what she was saying. (at 1:22 ) Sorta like it was just random words connected in a sentence

Jan 14, 2009 - The police perform and investigation and they submit their findings to the District Attorney's office and then he makes a determination as to whether he will prosecute. In the case of murder, it would seem that this is a no brainer that charges are forthcoming.. but hey...it is Oakland...I'm more interested in Justice as opposed to whether the case is a winner or not. DA's have no problem prosecuting minority assailants irreguardless of "evidence"..

Then down the line there has to be another hearing before a judge to set a court date. What action are you thinking of?

Jul 25, 2009 - Marther Luther King did fought for the blacks, but his fight was incomplete. He did 50% of the job, but he left the other 50%. That other 50% was that he never demanded nor fought for a seperate homeland for the blacks. The racial tension shows that all. He turned out to be a loser, and all his efforts are gone waste.
